Extra Benefits . . .
Extra benefits have been given to members who have been in the plan
four years or more. In 1987 and 1991 the Board of Governors voted a 10% bonus, in 1995 a 4% bonus, and in 1999 a 20% (total of 44%) to all members: active, inactive, retired and those receiving death benefits. This amount is above what the brochure’s schedule shows. However, any further distribution of excess funds is not guaranteed, but depends upon the investment earnings.
NOTE --Each year active members will receive an annual report projecting the scheduled monthly benefit based on continuous service to age 65; the projected monthly income based on accrued contributions; and the projected monthly income assuming the net trust earnings reach certain levels.
Recent Graduate Bonus . . .
One of the keys to adequate retirement funding is the number of years investments are earning prior to retirement. To encourage early participation, the Plan offers the incentive of 50% reduction on the first year of the first unit for recent ministerial graduates of a college or seminary who enter the ministry. To be eligible for this bonus an applicant must enroll before his thirtieth birthday; he must enroll within 12 months of receiving his degree (Please enclose a photocopy of college diploma with contract form); and he must be in church or para-church work. The first year will be counted as fully funded with only $300 invested; each year thereafter will be at the annual rate of $600 ($159 a quarter) per unit.
